About video:

"When Zombie's Rock N' Roll", our second music video, and one of the biggest undertakings we did until we made "Help Wanted." This was shot shortly before "Help Wanted", and was one of the final videos required for the class. It was actually an assignment that went along with "Pirate News". The teacher wanted us to do a music video, and a news segment. We mainly focused our attentions on this part of the project, because we had had the idea for it, for a long time. This video, like Formula 99, is another nod to George A Romero, since Dawn of the Dead, is the one movie we drew the most inspiration for the zombies.

Since this was one of the last projects we did for our class, there were a few students, who wanted to start to get in on the action. This was Jon's class, so I didn't have much say, I just enjoyed helping out making the videos either way. However some of them, didn't even participate in the whole project, so I was a little peeved that we did all the work, and they ended up getting an A+ for not participating in the whole project. Like Paul who was in Pirate News was supposed to participate in this video as well, because it was for his grade, but he did not.

This still turned out to be one of the most amusing videos we made, because it was much more creative for a music video than Weird Science was. Jon and I wanted to do a music video that actually had a story to it, instead of just dishing out us lip singing in front of the camera without a meaning. The only decision I regret is, that we did the opening in black and white, when we took shot the whole thing in make up. The make up is barely noticeable because it was transferred to black and white. We also went a little overboard with the special effects in certain spots.

One of the problems was with doing this video, is we had more characters, than we did people! So not only do Jon, Dillon and I play the zombie hunters, but we have to play the zombies as well. It was fun though, but unfortunately,  I had no figured out how to do any split screen effects, so there wasn't any shots we could do any actual fighting. Lack of people to help made this difficult, not only because we didn't have cast, but we had to switch off doing the camera work. If you weren't on camera, you were holding the camera. Looks kind of silly, and might be confusing as to who you're looking at, because for example, Dillon didn't want to even change clothes for the zombie hunter, and zombie. haha He didn't even want to wear make up, he just wore an inside out mask to make his face look mangled. It was the longest video shoot we had done before as well, because we wanted day and night shots, and wanted to get it done in a day.

At the time, Jon and I were huge fans of the misfits, because of their horror movie style, was perfect for our wanting to do a zombie video. It starts out, that in order to defeat the zombies, us zombies hunters try using rock and roll to kill them. lol So we bust out starting to sing and dance to "We built this city on rock and roll" by Starship. Then we get attacked by zombies while we perform it, and turn from a happy band, to an evil zombie band performing a Misfits song. However, today, I really wish we had left the misfits part out. It would have been much more funny to continue watching Jon dance like that. lol

Overall though, we still really liked the way this turned out, and is one of the favorites of people we've shown our videos to. I hope you enjoy it as well!
