Ever seen "Whose line is it anyway?" That's basically how this video was made. lol
Before we started shooting, we came up with basic ideas, on what these so called pirates would talk about if they had their own news program. In the end it sounded more like fisherman than pirates, but everyone just enjoyed saying "Yar!" With the exception of the few ideas we wrote down though, the dialogue was all improvisation. It was hard as hell to figure out what kind of news program to come up with. Again this was for class, so we had to come up with something. I don't recall exactly when "Pirate News" was decided on, or how. However, I remember the Simpsons had something to do with it. Being supposedly called "Pirate News", it doesn't seem very much like pirates though. Most of it we shot in Jon's basement, while the rest was done in a driveway. (Where's the sea?)
It's still funny in the end though, the things Jon and Paul came up with were enough to make it hard for me behind the camera to not start burst out laughing. Evan who was supposed to be the weatherman in this bit, needed a bit of encouragement though, I was trying to give him ideas behind the camera while he was on. "Captain John" doesn't really even do much at all, it's how Jon reacts to him at the end though, that's hilarious. Enjoy!
